New Children's Playground in Khuza'a - Building Complete!

Well done Big Riders. Last year we raised over £60,000 for the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA). MECA asked us if we could help to raise money for a playground and resource centre in Khuza'a where children, traumatised by the ceaseless attacks on Gaza, can find space and support to live normal children’s lives.
 
This is the background and report on initial stages we received from Dr Mona of MECA in Gaza:
 
"The playground is being built in Khuza’a village, which is an area of very dense population close to the Gaza border with Israel.  It has been subject to heavy bombing.  The plot is about half an acre and will cost $720 a year in rent with a lease of 10 years.  The formal procedures and planning permission all took time but are now complete.  The project manager and firm to undertake the work have been selected and the work constructing the park has begun.  So the garden walls are in place and the infrastructure for the utilities are being installed.  The building is well underway, with the main room and annexes being built.  As ever the children are playing in the garden before the work is finished – but that’s kids the world over."
