About donations

Donate or fundraise for The Big Ride 2020

In 2020 The Big Ride is again raising funds for the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), as we have done every year since 2015. We ask you to donate to MECA via the Big Ride Just Giving page.

We ask riders to donate via the Big Ride Just Giving page and/or set up your own fundraising page: on our Just Giving page, select "Join the Team".

Why MECA?

We chose MECA as the charity e support because it specialises in working with Palestinian children in Gaza who have been traumatised by the continuing military occupation, military attacks and bombardments there.
The Big Solidarity Ride (36 or 44 miles) - SIGN-UP DEADLINE WEDNESDAY 29TH JULY 11:59PM!

You’ll be riding either 44 miles – the total length of the military fence isolating Gaza from Israel and Egypt, or 36 miles – the section of the military fence with Israel alone.

You can do this solo or in small, socially distanced groups with other riders in your area (we can put you in touch if you're happy for us to share your contact details with a local ride organiser). You can even do it at home if you have your bike on a turbo trainer that will record the distance you’ve cycled. If this goes to plan we’ll have small Big Rides taking place all over Britain and maybe even beyond!

You can rise to the occasion and do the whole distance in one day (please do that if you can!) or over several days.

You can join the Big Solidarity Ride Strava club (optional), record or upload your miles as you ride them and upload your photos to the club page, or record your distance manually and send us the details via social media or email, but please join the Big Solidarity Ride Strava club if you can!

For more information, see our FAQ page.

The Big Ride Challenge (440 miles)

You’ll be challenging yourself to ride a total of 440 miles (708 km) in the period from Monday 20th July to Sunday 30th August 2020. 440 miles is the length of the separation wall built by Israel, taking away Palestinian land and freedom of movement and isolating Palestinian communities in the West Bank.

You can ride solo, in small socially distanced groups, or clock up the miles indoors on a turbo trainer. Or you can form a team to ride the distance between you – see if you can do it in a week, or even more quickly than that, as a team!

You can join the Big Ride Challenge Strava club (optional), record or upload your miles as you ride them and upload your photos to the club page, or record your distance manually and send us the details via social media or email, but please join the Big Ride Challenge Strava club if you can!

For more information, see our FAQ page.
